So read on, and discover why so many families are choosing Pattaya as their preferred holiday destination in Thailand.
1) Big Brands Are Moving Into Pattaya
Pattaya in Thailand has seen a lot of investment over the last 10 years mostly from large international leisure brands and all backed up by the towns forward thinking young mayor. This has resulted in a plethora of newly built 5 star resorts and family hotels, such as the Centara Grand Mirage resort and Hilton hotel.
These travel companies and hoteliers regularly spend a lot of money researching their prime locations and you can rest assured they wouldn’t be pouring millions into family themed resorts if the market wasn’t big enough.
The city’s main shopping mall has many world famous shops and brands such as Gucci, Hugo Boss and more.
2) Changing Attitudes and Reputation
The local and national government has had enough of the town’s sleazy image, and have worked tirelessly to clean up the town’s international reputation. The local news is constantly reporting on the closure orders being slapped on bars and clubs falling foul of the new regimes decency standards.
Along with ridding the town of the sleaze, they have also worked hard to attract international events to Pattaya, and to market it to the world. Over the last few years the town has hosted several international events such as the world firework championships, the beach football world cup, and international Jet Ski championships.
This is in addition to large Bollywood and Asian movies being filmed here. Some great reasons to take your family to Pattaya.
3) Family Themed Attractions
Gone are the night walkers, go-go clubs and girly bars and in are new family friendly attractions. Pattaya is now home to two large water parks, Amazone by Cartoon network and Ramayana Water park (which claims to be the largest in Asia).
In fact the town now boasts endless opportunities for family fun, such as the Teddy Bear Museum, Ripley’s believe it or Not, Mini Siam, crocodile farm, Monkey island and the Flight of the Gibbon (One of Thailand’s most visited family attractions).
4) A Great Location
Being located only 170Km along a new highway south of Bangkok, and with a new high speed rail link in the pipeline, getting to Pattaya is much more convenient than Thailand’s other more traditional family destinations.
This is great for any family, as there is nothing worse than multiple flights when travelling with children. Image getting of a 12hr international flight, then waiting 2hrs for another short flight just to get to Phuket or Koh Samui!
5) Reasonable Price
Price is a major consideration for any family when planning their vacation and Pattaya is still much cheaper than Bangkok, Phuket or Koh Smaui. A typical family room in one of the new large family resorts will set you back a reasonable $100US a night, compared to an average $150US a night in Koh Samui.
If you are travelling with a large family then there are hundreds of private rental villas to choose from all over the city with luxury 2 bed villas starting at $175 a night.
